Matcha means “powdered tea” and is a very unique type of green tea from Japan that has grown in popularity in recent years. Matcha is a very fine high-quality powder made from crushing the entire leaves of tea bushes grown in the shade. It is the only form of tea in which the consumer actually ingests the plant material which in turn drastically increases the antioxidants which are ingested. It is said that one cup of matcha contains the antioxidant equivalent of up to 10 cups of regular green tea. Our Organic Matcha Konomi is of excellent quality and value. This super-powered green tea has a clean, vegetal, and well-balanced character that is both sweet and smooth making it equally delicious as a drinking tea or as a colorful addition to any culinary creation. Many people enjoy whisking matcha in a bowl and drinking it from that same bowl.

Good tea, just a touch light for my taste. That said, the umami notes are genuine and the leaves are clearly high quality. I'd buy another variety from Contour Coffee.
